Chiropractor Job Outlook

Chiropractor employment is expected to grow by 28 percent from 2010 to 2020, better than the average for all occupations.

People across all age groups are increasingly utilizing chiropractic care, in part because most chiropractic treatments do not involve surgery or prescription drugs. Moreover, chiropractic treatment has become more accepted as a result of changing attitudes and more research about alternative healthcare.

The aging of the large baby-boom generation will create new opportunities for chiropractors as older adults are inherently more likely to experience joint and musculoskeletal problems than younger adults and children.

The ability of patients to pay, either directly or through health insurance, is integral to the demand for chiropractic treatment. Although more insurance plans now cover chiropractic care, the extent of such coverage varies widely. In order to establish a successful practice, chiropractors must educate communities about the benefits of chiropractic care.
